The Culture of Japan. history

The culture of Japan resulted from a historical process that began with the relocation of the ancestors of the Japanese people on the Japanese archipelago from the continent and the emergence of a culture of Jomon. Modern Japanese culture was strongly influenced by Asian countries (especially China and Korea), Europe and North America.

One of the features of Japanese culture is its long development period in complete isolation of the country (sakoku policy) from the rest of the world during the reign of the Tokugawa Shogunate, which lasted till the middle of XIX century — beginning of the Meiji period.

The culture and mentality of the Japanese was influenced by an isolated territorial situation of the country, geographical and climatic features, as well as specific natural disasters (frequent earthquakes and typhoons), which resulted in a kind of Japanese attitude to nature as a living creature. The ability to admire the immediate beauty of nature as a feature of national character of Japanese, found expression in many art forms of Japan.

The 10 weirdest Japanese traditions. Japan Asia

The Japanese do not celebrate the New year in our understanding. New year’s eve, they quietly go to sleep, but Wake up early in the morning and all go together to see the sunrise of the New year. We, of course, also met some new year’s dawn, but in a completely different state.

The Japanese have no jokes, but a kind of sense of humor.

2. Never say never

People in Japan try never to say the word NO, just replacing it with a polite departure from the topic, or this agreement is non-binding, and, ultimately, leads nowhere.

The Japanese have virtually no jokes. It’s hard to imagine, but true.

In Japan it is considered very unseemly, if You do not have a business card. So the Japanese even in the pool are wearing special waterproof small bags for business cards.

Courtesy is still in Japan comes to the extremes. Instead of pozhimanie hand the Japanese use the bows, and need to bow as many times as it did to You. The situation comes to the absurd. For example, if the Japanese decided to order sushi home, and if he can get a very polite courier delivery sushi home, this favor can take a lot of time! Guests will gather, and the courier will arrive very polite: then to bow, may take more than one minute! Continue reading

Democracy in South Korea

Everyone knows that North Korea is a totalitarian, decaying country, and South Korea is a thriving democracy. In North Korea it’s sad, people live in poverty, do not have the normal rights and freedoms, and to all of this, their brains purged of Communist ideology. In South Korea, the opposite is true: people live with dignity, and sometimes rich, they have rights and are free and their brains as if no one scores different ideologies, like Communist.

Of course, it’s all ivamy. driven hard in the head for an ordinary person, so he didn’t have any issues, which may not give quite the expected, and therefore very undesirable responses. Of course, North Korea is not a Paradise for a flourishing life, but also in South Korea, is not so great as it seems at first glance.

For example, you know that the average South Korean works per year, more than any other citizen of industrialized countries — 2 090 hours? For comparison, the average German works 1 413 hours, and the average Russian works for 1 981 hours per year (OECD data for 2011). Real average vacation duration in South Korea is 3–4 days (the maximum legally allowed in ten days). According to official statistics, 33% of workers Continue reading
